Clio & Clover’s new collection, First Bloom, is a celebration of colour, craftsmanship, and cultural heritage. Hand screen printed by artisans in Jaipur, this collection brings together intricate Mughal-inspired patterns and rich jewel tones on a soft cotton-linen blend — transforming ancient artistry into modern, timeless tableware.
The Heritage of Hand Screen Printing in Jaipur

Sanganer, a small town just outside Jaipur in Rajasthan, is renowned worldwide for its textile traditions — particularly hand screen and block printing. For centuries, artisans here have been perfecting these techniques, creating fabrics known for their delicate detail, vibrant colours, and lasting quality.
In the hand screen printing process, each design begins as a drawing that is carefully transferred onto a fine mesh screen. Areas that will remain unprinted are blocked, while the open spaces form the pattern. The fabric is laid out on long padded tables, and pigment is applied by hand using a wooden squeegee, pushing the dye through the mesh to create the design.
Every colour in a pattern requires its own screen, aligned precisely by the artisan’s eye — a process that demands both skill and patience. These subtle irregularities, unique to the hand printing process, are what give each fabric its distinct character and charm.
Design Inspiration: From Mughal Motifs to Modern Tables
Travelling to Jaipur was a journey into the heart of craft. At Clio & Clover, we set out to find a partner whose artistry and values mirrored our own — a studio where tradition and design come together in perfect balance. In the historic printing town of Sanganer, we discovered a female-led workshop preserving the age-old art of hand screen printing. Watching each layer of colour come to life — every motif traced, aligned and pressed by hand — was a reminder of why we create: to celebrate beauty, craft, and the stories behind what we bring to the table.
The First Bloom collection takes inspiration from the floral motifs and geometric patterns found in Mughal art and architecture. These historic designs have been reinterpreted with a fresh, contemporary eye of our design team — creating prints that feel both classic and modern.
The palette draws from the jewel tones once favoured by the Mughal courts — deep emerald green and rich ruby red — evoking the warmth and splendour of the festive season. Printed on a luxurious cotton-linen blend, the fabric has a soft yet structured feel, ideal for elegant table settings that can transition effortlessly from everyday dining to celebration.
Craftsmanship Meets Modern Living
Every piece in the First Bloom collection — from napkins and placemats to tablecloths — is hand printed in small batches by a female-led studio in Jaipur. This partnership supports local craftsmanship and helps sustain one of India’s oldest textile traditions.
From Jaipur to Your Table: A New Chapter for Clio & Clover
At Clio & Clover, we believe in meaningful design — pieces that tell a story and bring beauty to everyday moments. The First Bloom collection marks a new beginning for our brand: one that honours age-old craft while embracing modern aesthetics.
Each tablecloth, napkin, and placemat is more than just a piece of fabric — it’s a link between past and present, tradition and innovation, artistry and home.
